Reception Class Teacher Bursary Funding Information for October 2026

The eligibility criteria for DfE Scholarship funding have now been confirmed. 

Funded places are available for participants working in most state-funded settings, including academies.

Examples of settings where funding is not available include:

  • schools outside England
  • independent schools

If you are not eligible for funding, you can self-fund/ your school can fund your place. You must still register with the DfE once the registration service opens.


DfE registration

All Reception Class Teacher applicants are required to register with the Department for Education (DfE). This service is now open and can be accessed here. As everyone applying for a Reception Class Teacher place (regardless of funding pathway) will be required to have a One Login account, we also recommend people set this up now, in advance of the registration and application systems opening.
